Glenda Benevides

A creative chameleon, the multitalented Glenda Benevides is a powerful vocalist, songwriter, producer, philanthropist, music designer, healer and entrepreneur. She combines musical styles to create her own unique sound. With her soulful voice, Glenda invites us to expand the boundaries of our minds and enliven our spirits.

Her resume includes extensive singing credits in a variety of performance events including the South African Film Festival in Cannes France, a  fundraiser gala for the Brava! for Women in the Arts Theater in San Francisco, the Popkomm Music conference in Berlin, and a presidential campaign fundraiser for U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) at the Kuumbwas Jazz Center in Santa Cruz, CA. An experienced creative director, Glenda has also produced live shows, a web series pilot, several music videos and many private events (including an exclusive fundraising gala for The Shakespeare Society of America).

Glenda has shared the stage with a long list of recognizable performers such as Jeffrey Osborne, Pink Martini, Toto and Damian Perkins, and has written songs with top producers and songwriters including two-time Grammy Award winner, Tony Saunders, and multi-platinum producer, Simon Britton.

Her latest project, Never Give Up, is a theatrical experience that ranges far beyond what the label “musical theatre” normally encompasses. The show is scheduled to tour in 2012.

“It’s best described as a multimedia musical hybrid intended to challenge our thoughts and encourage our dreams,” shares Glenda. “The show follows three women from very different eras in time who all demonstrated steadfast persistence in the face of enormous obstacles. The concept evolved out of my own painful journey transforming a song of strife and difficulty– you know those negative stories that we tend to sing daily– into an expression of joy and fulfillment. The story developed as I began reflecting on who I am and exploring how I make a difference for others. It became clear that I had to keep going and never give up, that it was my responsibility to keep sharing my gifts and talents, telling my story and letting go of fear. Through the magic of sharing from an authentic place, my life experiences started to shift. Never Give Up is all about empowerment and so am I. In fact, my commitment as an artist is to share my honest creative expression, live into my powerful passion and empower others by revealing who I am.”

Glenda will close The WE Conference with a special solo performance of two selections from Never Give Up.
